Memorial website in the memory of your loved one
This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Brittany Jade King who was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina on November 12, 1986 and went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2003 at the age of 16 years, 6 months and 26 days. We will cherish her memory forever.  She had big brown eyes and natural curly brown hair and a smile you can never forget.  She was killed in a tragic car accident on Hwy 103 in Mount Airy on a rainy Saturday morning at 9:30 am.  She was on her way to work at the C.F. Jones Ice Cream Parlor in the Mayberry Mall.  She was an exceptional saxophone player in the North Surry High School Band and had a desire to become a Registered Nurse.

Ask My Mom How She Is

My Mom, she tells a lot of lies, she never did before,
From now until the day she dies, she'll tell a whole lot more.
She used to tell the truth a lot, but now it doesn't matter,
I died and went to heaven, now her life is all shattered.
Ask my Mom how she is, she'll say "Yes, I'm fine!"
She wants to beg, "Please help me, I can't find that girl of mine".
Ask my Mom how she is, she'll say, "I'm alright",
If that's the truth then tell me, why does she cry each night?
Ask my Mom how she is, because she seems to cope so well,
She didn't have a choice you see, nor the strength to yell.
You think you know the feeling, but this just cannot be,
for even though you loved me, you didn't love as much as she.
She will smile and tell you, "It's OK, it was meant to be"
But she will turn away and cry, because she can't understand.
Tell a joke and she will laugh, but she is not OK,
She wants to share the joke with me, but it won't be today.
I watch from here in Heaven, her distress disturbs my peace,
Will someone please take care of her, and thus take care of me?
"Some day you will feel better", "yes I will", she lies,
She knows this will not happen until the day she dies.
Ask my Mom how she is, she'll say, "Thank you, good",
She cannot tell you how she feels oh, how I wish she could.
Ask my mom how she is: "I'm fine, I'm well, I'm coping."
For God's sake Mom! Tell the truth, just say your heart is broken.
Ask my Mom how she is: "I'm well, I'm good, and you?"
I'll shake my head in Heaven, it simply isn't true.
She'll love me all her life, I loved her all of mine,
she'll lie and say she's fine,
Her carnival is over,  she's stepped off the carousel,
But to save you feeling badly, she'll say "Thanks, all is well."
My Mom, she's not gone mad quite yet, but oh, so very nearly,
Don't ask my Mom how she is, ask her how is she ... really.
I am here in Heaven, I cannot hug from here,
If she lies to you, don't listen, hug her, hold her near.
On the day we meet again, we'll smile and i'll be bold,
I'll say "You're lucky to get in here Mom,
with all the lies you've told!!"

We thought of you with love today.
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday.
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have is memories.
And your pictures in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake.
With which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our hearts.

Journal Entry by Brittany on December 7, 1999
"The best gift of kindness anyone has ever gave me was my life from my mom and dad.  Without that gift I would have never been here.  I would have never met any of my friends.  I would not get to see the sky, the land and the water.  I am so glad that my mom and dad had me because life would not be the same without me."
Journal Entry by Brittany on September 2, 1999
"If I could be anyone in the world, I would be myself because I like my friends, my home and my family.  I would never change my life for anybodys.  Even for the richest person on earth.  Even when times are bad it all works out in the end.  Even the richest and poplar people have bad times in life.  Nobodys life is a golden staircase.  Everybody has their 15 minutes of fame."
Brittany has a wonderful personality.  She loved to talk to her friends on the phone and the internet.  She was good at multi-tasking and doing both at the same time.  Her profile name was brattanygurl.  Her page contained the following:
Favorite things:
Music, Band, Swimming, Playing Sports, Driving, and my biggest hobby is talking on the internet and phone.  Also I enjoy going to church and learning about God.
Hobbies and Interests:
Animals, Books, Music, Friends, Swimming, and talking with people and God.
Favorite Quotes:
If U don't know me, don't judge me.
I'm not fat, I just retain water, and so does the Hoover Dam!
Ya never know!
Don't hate me because I am beautiful, hate me cause ur b/f thinks
 I am!
Next time u think ur perfect try walkin on water
Brittany loves butterflies.  When she would write her name, she would make the "B" and then do a backward "B" and draw antenas on it to make a butterfly out of the first letter of her name.  She done this on most things that she wrote - even her school work!!  Her room is so filled with these little treasures.
